In the heart of our vibrant community at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Shrine Church in Flushing, NY, a wonderful ministry is quietly cultivating the seeds of lifelong faith and deep-rooted friendships. The "Little Angels" Mommy & Me Program offers a warm, welcoming oasis for our youngest parishioners and their families, beautifully blending early learning, cultural heritage, and joyful connection.

More Than Just a Playgroup

Led by Program Director Margarita Eleftheriadis, the Little Angels program is thoughtfully designed as a faith-centered ministry rather than a traditional toddler drop-off. Recognizing that a child’s formative years are crucial for developing social, intellectual, and spiritual foundations, the program welcomes infants through Pre-K children (specifically designed for ages 0 to 2.5 years) alongside their caregivers.

But what makes Little Angels truly unique is its generational focus. It isn’t exclusively for mothers; it is a lively gathering space where moms, dads, and grandparents alike come together. As the children explore, the adults connect over shared experiences, trade parenting insights, and foster lifelong bonds that weave them deeply into the fabric of the greater St. Nicholas family.

Program Schedule & Structure

To accommodate the active routines of young families, classes are hosted three mornings a week:

  • Days: Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Target Age Group: Children ages 0 to 2.5 years old

A Rich Blend of Learning, Culture, and Play

Each session is carefully curated to keep toddlers engaged and stimulated, utilizing a holistic approach to early childhood development. The curriculum features an enriching mix of activities that touch on fine motor skills, sensory discovery, and linguistic heritage:

  • Creative Music & Movement: Helping children build motor coordination and self-expression through rhythm.
  • Greek Songs & Themes: Seamlessly introducing our beautiful Greek cultural heritage and orthodox faith through age-appropriate music.
  • Sensory Stimulation: Engaging hands-on activities that ignite natural curiosity and cognitive growth.
  • Arts & Crafts: Fun, structured crafting projects to develop early fine motor skills and creativity.
  • Early Social Interaction: A safe, supportive space for toddlers to practice sharing, playing, and making their first friends.
  • Family Networking: A fantastic built-in opportunity for parents and guardians to form meaningful local friendships.

Why Join the Little Angels Family?

Stepping into a new environment with a baby or toddler can sometimes feel overwhelming, but the Little Angels ministry ensures that every family feels immediately at home. By integrating faith, cultural roots, and modern early-childhood practices, the program creates an anchor for young families within the church. It provides our children with their very first memories of the church environment as a place of joy, safety, play, and love.
