George & Evlavia Doulaveris Preschool
Academic Excellence & Early Foundation
Nurturing Minds from the Start Our daily educational programs, including the Doulaveris Preschool and William Spyropoulos Day School, provide a premier academic environment where faith and knowledge meet. We believe that true education involves the whole person—intellect, heart, and soul. By integrating rigorous New York State standards with the values of the Orthodox Church, we prepare our students to lead lives of purpose, integrity, and academic distinction. Here, our youngest parishioners begin their journey in a safe, Christ-centered "home away from home" that fosters a lifelong love for learning.
Hellenic Heritage & Language
Preserving Our Roots and Identity At the heart of our community is a commitment to the Greek language and the rich cultural tapestry of Hellenism. Through the Hellenic School and specialized programs like HOLA, we offer students of all ages the opportunity to master the Greek language and explore the history and traditions that have shaped the civilized world. By connecting our youth to their ancestral roots, we ensure that the "Hellenic Spirit" remains a vibrant and living force in their lives, empowering them with a strong sense of identity and a global perspective rooted in the wisdom of the ages.
Spiritual Formation & Sacred Arts
Growing in Faith and Tradition Education at our parish extends beyond the classroom and into the very life of the Church. Our Church School (Sunday School) and Little Angels programs nurture the spiritual seeds planted at Baptism, while our Bible Study offers adults a deeper encounter with the Word of God. For those drawn to the aesthetic beauty of the Church, our Iconography School teaches the ancient "theology in color," allowing students to participate in the sacred art of the Byzantine tradition. Together, these ministries provide a pathway for every parishioner to grow "in the stature and fullness of Christ."
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6

St. Nicholas Family
At our parish schools, your children will be safe, loved, and inspired to reach their highest potential. We celebrate the richness of Hellenic culture, passing down our language and traditions, while striving for academic excellence in every classroom. By combining a rigorous curriculum with a Christ-centered environment, we challenge our students to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners. Under the watchful protection of St. Nicholas, the patron of all children, we provide a foundation where faith, intellect, and heritage come alive.
St. Nicholas Church School
Vision & Mission
Our vision for every child is a personal love of Jesus Christ and an understanding of his mission to the world. Religious Education at St. Nicholas Church is a formation program for children. It is dedicated to inspiring an intimate knowledge of God and a witness of Christian love. It desires to build an understanding of the basic beliefs of the Greek Orthodox Church, which is the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church of Christ, and encourages our children to carry those beliefs into the world and apply them in their personal lives.
The mission of our Sunday Church School is
- to help our children experience the presence of God in their lives
- to learn who Jesus Christ is, by the guidance of the Holy Spirit
- to follow the ways of Jesus Christ, as witnessed by the Holy Apostles and lived by the Holy Fathers and the continuing Tradition of the Holy Orthodox Church
- to creatively engage our children in the learning process
- to give our children hope in their Salvation.
All children age three and older (through High School twelfth grade) are invited to attend Sunday Church School. The basic curriculum and supplemental programs are listed and described below.

More than just after-school—it’s where heritage comes to life!
Our Academy is an innovative daily enrichment program designed to give students a joyful space to grow. Here, "educational fun" isn't just a phrase; it’s our daily practice. Students engage in the Greek language through a rich variety of activities that nurture the whole child—body, mind, and soul.
What Makes Our Academy Special?
We bridge the gap between school and home by offering a range of components that help children connect deeply with their Greek heritage:
- Language & Culture: Immersive practicing of our native tongue and traditions.

Welcome to the Family: The "Little Angels" Mommy & Me
Our Door is Open to Every Little One (Ages 0–2.5 Years)
At St. Nicholas, we believe the first three years of life are the most sacred. Our "Little Angels" program is more than a class—it’s a strong foundation where our youngest parishioners begin their journey of faith and discovery. Through our Three-Dimensional Learning approach, we help your child reach their milestones in an environment that feels just like home.
Growing Together: Heart, Mind, and Body
- Brain Boost: We spark natural curiosity through language development, self-expression, and an introduction to the building blocks of learning—colors, numbers, and letters.
- Get Moving: We celebrate every wiggle and step! Our sessions build physical strength, coordination, and balance through active play.
- The Little Citizen: Within our safe walls, children learn the beauty of socialization—sharing, following directions, and gaining the confidence to explore new environments.
A Morning of Joy
We invite parents and grandparents to join us every Friday from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM (October through June) in the mezzanine of the Wm. Spyropoulos building. Every week is a celebration of our heritage and community:
- Circle Time: Songs and music in both Greek and English.
- Creativity: Hands-on craft time and healthy snacks.
- Family Traditions: Mini-parties to celebrate Christmas, Easter, and the end of the year.
